Academic Tutoring Services

In addition to college and high school test prep, Ivy West provides one-on-one, in-home academic tutoring services for many academic subjects. Our tutors work with students to enhance learning and comprehension of their current class assignments and course materials to improve grades and academic confidence. Your Program Advisor will consult with you to determine the appropriate number of lessons to meet your child’s needs. In our experience, we’ve found that 90-minute lessons are ideal for maximizing learning without the side effects of fatigue.

In addition, Ivy West also offers a variety of one-on-one Booster programs that develop and improve the fundamental skills needed to succeed on standardized admissions tests.

Vocabulary Booster

Ivy West's Vocabulary Booster programs are designed to expand vocabulary skills in order to raise scores on the SAT Critical Reading section, the ACT Reading section, and the Essay section on both tests. The programs can also help your child improve grades in school, and prepare for college-level reading and writing. Through etymologies, context, and related meanings, your tutor will help expand your child’s college-level vocabulary and master hundreds of the most frequently appearing words on college admissions tests. We offer two different programs, Vocabulary Booster I and Vocabulary Booster II. Each program consists of five 90-minute sessions and includes the Ivy West Vocabulary Booster course book, which contains lesson material and practice exercises.

Math Booster

Ivy West's Math Booster programs are designed to build math skills to raise scores on the SAT Math section, the ACT Math section, and SAT Subject Tests in math. These programs can also help improve math grades in school. We offer two distinct programs: Math Booster I and Math Booster II.

Math Booster I provides a tutorial on math and lays a foundation for more advanced math concepts. Math Booster II covers more advanced topics and is well-suited for students who need extra help on topics such as trigonometry or conic sections. Both Math Booster I and Math Booster II consist of six 90-minute sessions each, and include the Ivy West Math Booster course book, which contains lesson materials and practice exercises.
